Florida A&M Rattlers Visit Wolfpack in Reynolds

The Wolfpack is looking to extend its two-game winning streak at home on Wednesday, Dec. 17, when it plays host to Florida A&M. The Rattlers will enter Reynolds Coliseum for a 7 p.m. tip-off with a 3-3 record, while the Pack stands at 4-3. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
NC State women's basketball extended its home winning streak to two after picking up an exciting 93-91 victory over the visiting Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday, Dec. 14. Aided by a stellar shooting performance, NC State put four players into double-figures, including a team-high 21 from senior Kaayla Chones. Chones currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 15.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Two freshmen are in the top five in scoring for the Wolfpack, which includes 8.9 ppg from Keisha Brown and 7.1 ppg from Marquetta Dickens. Both Chones and Dickens are on a two-game double-figure scoring streak. Junior point guard Kendra Bell has emerged as one of the team's top performers, as she set a career-high with her 19 points against IU and has started all seven games for NC State. She is the team's third-leading scorer with a 7.6 ppg average. Three players, including two starters are shooting above 50 percent with 30 or more attempts. Chones leads with 54.8 percent (46-84) and Brown is next with 54 percent (27-50), while senior Terah James falls in at 50 percent (18-36). NC State will pack to leave for Puerto Rico on Thursday morning to prepare for a challenging three-straight games before heading home for the holiday. The San Juan Shootout begins with NC State tipping off against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday, then followed by University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and Baylor on Sunday and Monday.
The Florida A&M Rattlers currently sit with a 3-3 record after winning two-straight at home and a recent 87-57 loss at the home of fellow ACC member, Wake Forest on Dec. 15. FAMU defeated Jackson State, 65-48 on Dec. 7 and Savannah State, 89-46 on Dec. 5. Two Rattlers are averaging double figures, led by senior center Kim Watson with a scoring average of 12.2 ppg, while senior Yolanda Dixon is getting 10.3 per game. Junior Quidara Russell leads the team in rebounds with an average of 6.5 per outing. The stand tall in the frontcourt as Watson reaches 6-foot-3 and Russell stands at 6-foot-2. Watson is 11th all-time in Rattler scoring and has 1,068 career points. Junior Tene' Miller has been dishing out the assists for FAMU as she racks up 4.5 per game and has 27 total, with just 11 turnovers on the year. The Rattlers are coached by Debra Clark, now in her third season as head coach. She owns a 30-32 record at Florida A&M and a 141-117 record in her 10 years as a head coach overall. The 3-3 start is the best start under her watch. Despite being a Florida school, the Rattlers have just three players on its roster from the Sunshine State.
