Wolfpack Soccer Hosts Howard in Final Home Match

NC State women's soccer will host Howard for the final home game of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The Wolfpack, now at 8-7-1 and 1-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, kicks off against the Bison, now 4-12-0, at 3 p.m.
The Wolfpack played just one match this past week when they traveled to No. 14 Florida State. NC State was looking for its first win in Tallahassee, but was defeated 1-0 on Friday, Oct. 24. Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Selz made seven saves, tying a career-high. Selz has started the last two matches for the Pack, tallying 14 saves for the 1-1 split against No. 19 Maryland and FSU. Heading into the its final home match, the Wolfpack is led by junior forward Erin Griswold with eight goals and five assists for a grand total of 21 points. Senior forward Lindsey Underwood is next with her six goals and seven assists. Freshman defender Megan Buescher leads the team with eight assists.
Howard enters the match with a two-game winning streak after picking up a 5-1 win over Robert Morris on Saturday, Oct. 25. Junior Raneika Bean scored two goals for the Bison, while senior Erinn Garner recorded two assists, both from Bean's goals and one goal herself. The other win came against Longwood University on Thursday, Oct. 23, which resulted in a closer score of 3-2. Garner again had two goals, including the game-winner in the 74th minute. Bean currently leads the team with her 22 points, from her 11 goals. Garner is second on the team with five. Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Walton did not play in the win over Robert Morris, but has been the go-to netminder for Howard. In her 15 matches, she has tallied 115 saves and allowed 51 goals.
NC State will play its final regular season match on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it heads to Wake Forest for a 7 p.m. start. The Wolfpack will then turn its attention to the ACC Championships taking place at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, Nov. 6, 7 and 9.
