Wolfpack Soccer Travels to No. 14 Florida State

The NC State women's soccer team travels to Tallahassee, Fla. for a match against No. 14 Florida State on Oct. 24. The Wolfpack enters the contest with a record of 8-6-1 and 1-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Seminoles own a 9-5-1 overall record and a 3-1-1 ACC docket. The game, which will be televised on the Sunshine Network, is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
Heading into its first of two final ACC matches of the regular season, NC State is looking for its second ACC win and another upset victory. After defeating No. 19 Maryland at home on Oct. 19, 1-0, NC State seeks to earn its first road win against the 'Noles and first road win against an ACC opponent. Leading the way for the Pack will be junior forward Erin Griswold and senior forward Lindsey Underwood. Griswold currently has a team-high 21 points from her eight goals and five assists. Underwood is second on the team in points with 19 from six goals and seven assists. Freshman defender Megan Buescher has a team-high eight assists. Sophomore Kim Selz started in the net for the Wolfpack in the Maryland game. She came up big with a career-high seven saves and earned her second shutout of the year. The two teams are even in the eight-year series history. Since 1995, the Wolfpack and the Seminoles have totaled a record of 3-3-2.
Florida State is coming off of four-straight shutout wins, including two recently against No. 12 Wake Forest and Clemson. The 'Noles tied the Deacs 0-0 and defeated the Tigers 1-0. Forward Leah Gallegos leads the team with 21 points, stemming from her team-high 10 goals. Also, forward Julia Schnugg leads the team with eight assists. In between the posts will by Joy McKenzie. The keeper has made 46 saves, allowed just 10 goals and earned four shutouts. She ranks third in the ACC with 3.75 saves per game.
NC State will face Howard at home on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The Wolfpack's final home game will begin at 3 p.m., at Method Road. NC State's final ACC contest will take place at Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.
