WUHAN, China - The U.S. Women's National soccer team battled through adverse weather conditions on Sunday only to lose to a very determined China team 2-0 in the second round of the Four Nations Tournament. Playing in front of 40,000 spectators, the third largest crowd ever to witness a match outside of the U.S., the women were never able to get their offense going.
The teams will travel to Hongkou Stadium in Shanghai today, another site of the 2003 Women's World Cup, in preparation for the final matches of the tournament. The U.S. is currently in second place in the tournament and could win the competition barring a win over Germany and a China loss or tie to Norway. The U.S. and Germany will square off on January 29 in the final round of the tournament.
