Week 12: Lewis, Comets Forge Ahead In WNBA Playoffs

Andrea Stinson, Summer Erb and the Charlotte Sting took on the Washington Mystics in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs and came out on the short end, losing two games to none. On the other end of the spectrum, Tynesha Lewis and the Houston Comets are headed for a Game Three in their first round series against the Utah Starrz at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Sting's week began with a 67-57 triumph over the Mystics in the regular-season finale in the Charlotte Coliseum. Stinson contributed nine points in 30 minutes to go with seven rebounds and three assists. Erb put in two points in limited action.
Stinson led all Charlotte scorers with 16 points in Washington's 74-62 win in Game One of the playoff series. Stinson also accumulated eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in the loss. Erb once again scored two points in four minutes of play.
In the second and final game of the series, a 62-59 Washington victory, Stinson netted 14 points in 34 minutes of action on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. She also snared 10 rebounds, dished out five assists and swiped three steals. Erb scored five points in 13 minutes of action.
Lewis has yet to see action for the Comets in its series with Utah, but has contributed mightily down the stretch for the squad.
Chasity Melvin, a member of the Cleveland Rockers, scored seven points in 32 minutes in her season-finale against the Indiana Fever, a 60-56 Fever defeat. Melvin also chipped in eight rebounds and five assists in the loss.
