Women's Basketball Announces 2002-03 Schedule

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's basketball announced the 2002-03 schedule today, Monday, Aug. 12, 2002. The schedule features eight television games, including two each on ESPN and Fox Sports Net. NC State will also be potentially matched against five teams that finished in the Top 25 AP Poll last season.
The Wolfpack opens the year at home with two exhibition games. The first game, Monday, Nov. 4, will see NC State match up against some of the WNBA's premier players at 7 p.m. The second exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., against the Basketball Travelers. The non-conference portion of the calendar begins with UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. Next, the Pack hosts the Jimmy V Classic, Sunday, Nov. 24. The two games will be played at the ESA, with the first matching No. 6 Tennessee with No. 3 Duke at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2. NC State will take the court at 4:30 p.m. versus No. 1 Connecticut, to be televised on ESPN. The team then takes to the road for a tournament at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, Nov. 29-30. NC State will tip off against Iowa at 5 p.m., on Friday, while South Alabama and LMU will follow at 7 p.m. The consolation and championship games are slated for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The month of December will see NC State at home from Dec. 6-18, after being on the road versus East Carolina, Tues., Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. Beginning Friday, Dec. 6, the Pack will host the Glaxosmithkline Invitational with Washington, No. 24 Florida and Houston. The consolation and championship games will follow on Saturday. The times and match-ups for the invitational will be released at a later date. The next two home games are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 and Wednesday, Dec. 18, versus Brigham Young and Elon. Saturday's game will tip off at 2 p.m., while Wednesday's game is slated for 7 p.m. The month ends with two road games, the first at Seton Hall on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m., and the second on Monday, Dec. 30, at No. 15 Old Dominion, at 7 p.m.
The ACC portion begins with a home game against Maryland on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. The squad then heads to No. 16 UNC for a game on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. (RSN). The following Wednesday, the team will be at Florida State for a 7 p.m. game time. The team returns home for two more games, beginning with Virginia on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. (RSN) and ending with Clemson on Monday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. (RSN). The month concludes with games against Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and No. 3 Duke. The Wolfpack will be at Wake Forest Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. and then at GT, Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. NC State hosts Duke on Wednesday, Jan. 29, to conclude the month; game time is 7 p.m.
NC State will play seven games in February, before playing its final regular season game Sunday, March 2, at Duke, 5:30 p.m. on FSN. The team opens the month at Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 1, TBA. The Wolfpack hosts UNC and Florida State, Friday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. (RSN) and 2 p.m. Two Thursday games are up next as the team heads to Virginia, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m., and Clemson, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. And, before heading to Duke, the team hosts Wake Forest on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m., and Georgia Tech, Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m.
The ACC Tournament will be broadcast on FSN and is scheduled for March 7-10 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
