Carl Pettersson ended his first British Open with a final round 73, a score that left him in 43rd place. After sharing the clubhouse lead through the first round, Pettersson was within one stroke of the leaders heading into the weekend. Five strokes off the pace following a 76 in brutal weather conditions on Saturday, Pettersson would finish eight shots behind eventual winner Ernie Els, who captured his first British Open crown in a five hole playoff.
