Week 7: Stinson Named to All-Star Squad

Andrea Stinson, a former star for the NC State women's basketball program was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the third consecutive year during the league's seventh week of the season. Stinson is currently averaging 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists on the year.
The games still went on, however, and they began on Tuesday for Stinson, Summer Erb and the rest of the Charlotte Sting in a 66-55 loss to the Miami Sol. Stinson netted four points and eight rebounds in the loss, while Erb tallied three rebounds, a steal and a block in 12 minutes of action.
On Friday, the duo faced off against the Orlando Miracle and came out a winner, 72-67. Stinson played 32 minutes in the game, scoring 10 points and grabbing five boards. Erb posted an assist, a steal and two blocks in 12 minutes of play.
On Saturday, the Sting ran their home record to 8-2 at The Hive with a 63-60 defeat of the Minnesota Lynx, despite a 13-point deficit in the second half. Stinson was four-of-seven for eight points, grabbing two rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Chasity Melvin and the Cleveland Rockers kicked off their week with a 68-57 loss to the Indiana Fever. Melvin played an incredible 39 minutes in the loss, tallying 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.
On Thursday, Cleveland was nipped at the buzzer by the Sacramento Monarchs 71-69. In that game, Melvin scored 15 points in 31 minutes on five-for-nine field goal shooting and five-for-six from the charity stripe. The forward also yanked down five rebounds.
Melvin and the Rockers got back to their winning ways on Friday with a 62-58 defeat of the Seattle Storm. Melvin posted 12 points in 30 minutes to go with 12 rebounds. It was her second double-double of the season.
The Houston Rockers' Tynesha Lewis saw 17 minutes of action in a 74-60 victory over Sacramento, scoring seven points on three-for-three shooting from the field.
Following the All-Star festivities, Charlotte swings back into action on Wednesday for a home date with Orlando at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, the Sting welcome Sacramento to town for a matchup at 7:00 p.m.
Melvin's Rockers will begin play after the break on Wednesday at Minnesota for a game at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday before they head back home on Saturday for a game against the Los Angeles Sparks at 2:00 p.m. on NBC.
Houston squares off against Utah for a game against the Starrz at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. On Friday, the Comets will travel to Portland for a contest with the Fire at 10:00 p.m. before continuing on to Seattle for a Saturday tilt with the Storm, also at 10:00 p.m.
