CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Former NC State star Andrea Stinson scored all 15 of her points in the first half and the Charlotte Sting ended a four-game losing streak with a 75-64 victory over the Indiana Fever on Thursday night.
Tammy Sutton-Brown added 13 points and Summer Erb had 11 for the Sting (3-4), who never trailed and extended their regular-season home winning streak to 10 games, dating to last season.
"We really wanted to come out of the gate strong and really set a tone defensively," Sting coach Anne Donovan said. "We wanted to set the tone from the first jump ball."
The Sting scored the game's first eight points and hit 10 of their first 13 shots in taking a 21-11 lead. They finished the half with a 36-25 lead on 64 percent shooting.
Stinson was 7-of-9 from the field in the first half then missed all three of her shots in the final 20 minutes.
"Our defense triggers our offense," Stinson said. "The ball was rotating around nicely. In the second half other people had the better shots. That's no problem. I just want to win."
Indiana cut the deficit to 46-39 on Jackie Moore's three-point play with 13:32 left.
But Charlotte responded with a 15-4 run, holding the Fever without a field goal for 3:41. Allison Feaster's three-point play with 9:51 left made it 61-43.
Charlotte shot 57 percent for the game, after shooting just 34 percent in a loss to Houston on Tuesday.
