Women's Golf Finishes Eighth

Brown Summitt, NC- The NC State Women's Golf Team magical run over the last three tournaments finally came to an end as Erica Wein finished 22nd to lead NC State to a eighth place finish at the Bryan National Collegiate. Wein carded a nine-over-par three day total of 225 (75-74-76). The Wolfpack placed two players in the top 25 lead by Wein with Sarah Bonner finishing 23rd with an even-par 72 in the final round. Bonner fired a three day total of 226 after an opening round 80 and a second round 74. Bonner's final round 72 is tied as her lowest round of the season. The Wolfpack's three day total of 909 was the second lowest team score for the Wolfpack this season. The previous best was the 904 shot last weekend at the Lady Seahawk Invitational, the third straight tournament title for the Wolfpack.

Nationally ranked as the number two women's golf team in the nation, the Duke Blue Devils placed three golfers in the top five individually. Nirapathpongporn fired a five-under-par 211 and defeated Angela Jerman of Georgia in a sudden death playoff for the individual title. Duke shot 870 as a team to capture their third Bryan National Collegiate in the five year history of the tournament.

Sophomore Malin Claesson finished 42nd with a three day total of 230 (75-76-79, +14). Colby Cobb finished two strokes behind Claesson with a three day 74-78-80 which was good for 51st. Leslie Stubblefield closed out the Wolfpack scoring with a 237 (80-74-83, +21)

Coach Page Marsh leads her golfers into the ACC Championships on April 19-21. The Wolfpack put together perhaps their best season in school history winning three team titles. The Wolfpack Women had previously won only one title in school history before this season.
