The NC State Men's Golf team is heading to Augusta nationally ranked after two consecutive third place finishes at the Las Vegas Intercollegiate and the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. The Precept Coaches poll ranked NC State 21st nationally while the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll tabbed NC State the nations 23rd-best men's golf team. The Wolfpack defeated seven top-25 teams at the Las Vegas Intercollegiate and six top-25 teams at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. At the Schenkel E-Z-GO NC State defeated then top-five teams Clemson, Florida, and Tennessee.
ACC foes Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Clemson are 1-2-3 nationally followed in fourth by SEC powerhouse Florida. Oklahoma State, Texas, Fresno St, Southern Cal, TCU, and Tennessee all round out the top-10 in the Precept Coaches Poll.
Golfweek/Sagarin also rated the ACC dominance at the top with a similar 1-2-3 ranking for the schools with Georgia Tech garnering the top spot and Clemson (2nd) and Wake Forest (3rd) flopping spots. Florida and TCU round out the top-five.
The Golfweek/Sagarin Individual Rankings have Senior golfer Garth Mulroy 52nd nationally, Junior Jason Moon 84th and Junior Justin Walters 86th after his impressive win at the Schenkel E-Z-GO.
The NC State Wolfpack are in action this Saturday and Sunday at the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational in Augusta Ga.
