Wolfpack Women Hold Post-Season Awards Banquet

RALEIGH, N.C.-The NC State Wolfpack women's basketball squad held its annual awards banquet at the McKimmon Center on the NC State campus Sunday evening. Over 200 family members and friends joined the Wolfpack program at their post-season ceremony.
Redshirt sophomore Kaayla Chones took MVP and Best Offensive Player honors for the Wolfpack. The Pepper Pike, Ohio native claimed second-team All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament second-team honors this season, averaging 12.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Athletic trainer Nicole Neal presented the Iron Wolf Award to Terah James and Carisse Moody for outstanding work in the training room returning from injury. James suffered the second ACL tear of her career in the preseason, while Moody returned from an ankle sprain early in the season to contribute heavily for the Wolfpack. Moody also was given the Best Team Supporter for a starter, as voted on by the team.
James was also honored by the Wolfpack coaching staff with the Coaches Award.
Rachel Stockdale was honored with the Peanut Doak Rookie of the Year Award. Stockdale drilled 40 three-pointers in 2001-02, the third highest in school history by a freshman. Stockdale also claimed the BEM Award, presented by head equipment manager Brenda Keene.
Junior Amy Simpson was bestowed the Off-Season Award by head strength and conditioning coach Charles Stephenson. Simpson was the team's third-leading scorer at 8.2 points per game. Simpson was also given the G-WIS Award for outstanding service in the community and surrounding schools.
Talisha Scates, the only senior on the squad, was honored with the Silver Bowl Award by Carrie Leger of the Athletic Support office for having the highest GPA over the last three semesters.
Juniors Amelia Labador was honored with the Best Team Supporter (Non-Starter) by the squad, and Nanna Rivers claimed the Preseason Award and Most Improved Award.
Freshman Liz Bailey was also given the 100 Percent Effort Award, an honor that was voted on by the team.
