Men's Golf Fourth As Freshman Thomas Fires 70

Uwharrie Pt., NC- NC State Men's Golf fired a team score of even-par 288 to pace the Wolfpack to an early fourth place start at the ACC Championships at the Old North State. Georgia Tech is first as they defend their ACC Title in 2001 by firing an 17-under-par opening round.
Freshman Rodney Thomas fired a two-under-par 70, good for a tie of eighth, to pace the Wolfpack, who finished fifth in last years ACC Championship.
Jason Moon fired a 71 for a share of 13th while senior Garth Mulroy tabbed a 73 and a share of 25th. All-American canidate Justin Walters shot a 74 to place 30th while Fernando Mechereffe shot a 75 to close out the scoring for the Pack.
The second round tees off tomorrow morning and concludes Sunday morning to determine the ACC Championship.
