Winston-Salem, N.C.-The NC State men's tennis squad dropped their last regular-season match with a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the No. 22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Wolfpack dropped to 5-19 overall and 0-8 in the ACC, while the Deacons moved to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
After getting swept out of the doubles competition, the Wolfpack came to life in the singles matches, pushing four of the six contests to three sets. One of those matches was a family affair for NC State freshman R.J. Murray, who defeated brother Mike in a tiebreaker for the first set at No. 4, before falling 6-1 and 6-2 in the final two sets.
The Wolfpack won't have to go far for their next match. NC State is slated to face No. 11 Duke in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Friday in Raleigh. The tournament will be played at the Millbrook Tennis Exchange Center.
