Chones Named Second-Team All-Tournament

Raleigh, N.C.--Kaayla Chones, a redshirt sophomore from Pepper Pike, Ohio earned All-ACC Tournament honors by her perfomance in the 2002 ACC Tournament. This is the first time in her career Chones has claimed an all-tournament honor from the ACC.
In her first-round game against Clemson, Chones tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds for her 13th career double-double in a 62-51 victory over the Tigers. Her perfomance pushed her into ninth in the NC State record books in double-doubles, just ahead of Susan Yow and Tynesha Lewis with 12.
Chones posted 13 points on 5-8 shooting from the field during the Wolfpack's semifinal loss to North Carolina, 58-52. It marked the 18th time that she had scored in double figures this season.
Other members of the second-team included Chrissy Floyd (Clemson), Telisha Quarles (Virginia), Krista Gingrich (Duke) and Iciss Tillis (Duke).
