No. 7 Devils Too Much for Wolfpack

DURHAM, N.C. - Tough ACC action continued for NC State Friday afternoon in Durham, as the Pack fell to the number seven-ranked Duke Blue Devils, 7-0. The loss drops the Pack to 0-4 in league action and 6-7 overall.
Duke has three ranked players on their roster, two of which are in the top 20 according to the Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. No. 4 Kelly McCain was too much for State's Katrina Gildemeister in the No. 1 match. Gildemeister fell to the ranked McCain in sets of 6-0, 6-2. Kristen Nicholls kept it close and had a nice performance at No. 2 singles, but couldn't hold on as she fell to No. 18 Julie DeRoo, 6-4, 6-3. Duke's No. 64 Saras Arasu faced Jennifer Jassawalla in the No. 4 match. Jassawalla fel 6-0, 6-1.
Play will continue for the Pack when they return home and face the Florida State Seminoles Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on the courts of the Wolfpack Tennis Complex. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season in ACC play.
