NC State Gymnastics Places 13 On EAGL All-Academic Team

Raleigh, N.C. - Led by 13 gymnasts from North Carolina State University, a total of 76 scholar-athletes have been named to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) All-Academic team, announced by the league office on Thursday.
The total of 76 gymnasts is the third-highest total in the seven-year history of the EAGL. In 1999 and 2000, a record 88 gymnasts were honored.
In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher in the two previous semesters.
Of the 76 gymnasts, 11 seniors were named to the EAGL All-Academic Team for the fourth year in a row. North Carolina State had four seniors honored for the fourth straight year, including Kelli Brown (Spruce Creek, Pa.), Lauren Palefsky (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Rebecca Silverstein (Ramsey, N.J.) and Angie Welch (Richardson, Tex.).
All 76 gymnasts will be honored at the annual EAGL awards dinner on Friday, March 22 at the Sheraton Inn in Towson, Md. The seventh annual EAGL Championship Meet is set for Saturday, March 23 in the Towson Center on the Towson University campus. The meet starts at 6:00 p.m.
