RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State (6-6) fell to conference foe No. 21 Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon, 6-1. Junior Myrna Bawono stood strong for the Pack and defeated Tech's Mason Miller in No. 3 singles play. Bawono downed Mason in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) to tab the only point of the day for NC State.
Bawono teamed up with Jennifer Jassawalla to defeat Tech's No. 2 duo of Jaime Wong and Laura Ozolins, 8-3 in doubles competition. With losses at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles for the Pack, Georgia Tech grabbed the doubles point to take the early lead.
Tech's Mysti Morris, Catherine Gunn, Sekita Grant, Laura Ozolins and Fallon Koon recorded victories against the Pack in singles play. Wolfpack Freshman Danielle Staddelmann forced Tech's Koon to a third set with a 5-7 rally in the second after falling 6-4 in the first set. Koon came out on top in the third, 6-3.
The Wolfpack will travel north Tuesday to face the Richmond Spiders. Play is set to begin at 2 p.m.
