Chones, Stockdale Earn ACC Honors

Raleigh, N.C.--Redshirt sophomore Kaayla Chones and freshman Rachel Stockdale were honored by the ACC on Tuesday when the All-ACC and All-Freshman squads were announed.
Chones, a Pepper Pike, Ohio native, was named to the All-ACC second team Tuesday. She leads the Wolfpack in scoring with 12.3 and 7.0 rebounds per game and is ranked second in ACC games with a .585 field goal percentage and 6.31 defensive rebounds per game. Chones also ranks in the top five with 8.1 rebounds (4th) and 1.0 blocks per game (4th) in conference action. For the season, she posted five double-doubles on the season and registered a career-high 31 points against Georgia Tech on Jan. 6th in a 75-63 Wolfpack victory. Chones was joined on the ACC's second team by Brandi Teamer and Telisha Quarles of Virginia, Sonja Mallory and Milli Martinez of Georgia Tech and Monique Currie of Duke.
Stockdale, a freshman from High Point, N.C., was named to the All-Freshman team Tuesday. Stockdale is the fourth-leading scorer for NC State at 7.4 points per game. In 2001-02, Stockdale has made 38 three-pointers, a total that is third in school history for three-pointers made by a freshman and is ninth in ACC action with 1.44 three-pointers made per game. The all-freshman team also consisted of Currie from and Wynter Whitley of Duke, Teamer of Virginia and Leah Metcalf of North Carolina.
