Wolfpack Men Stand Eighth After Opening Day

Ponte Verda, Fla.--Senior Garth Mulroy fired twin rounds of 71 to lead the Wolfpack to an eighth place standing after opening day at the M ercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
In NC State's first tournament of the spring, Mulroy is currently tied for third at two-under-par while junior teammate Justi n Walters is a solid T-15th after firing rounds of 73 and 75.
Junior Jason Moon, who sported a fall stroke average of 70.9 to lead the team, is in a tie for 49t h after back-to-back rounds of 78. Sophomore Fernando Mechereffe is also knotted at 49th after shooting an first round 74 and a second round 82. Freshman Rodney Thomas is playing in his fourth tournament of his collegiate career and is in a tie for 68th.
Play resumes tommorrow morning for the final round at 8:00 a.m. a t Sawgrass Country Club.
