Wolfpack Women Defeat Charlotte, 4-3

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team concluded weekend play Sunday afternoon with a win over visiting Charlotte (2-2) at the Wolfpack Tennis Complex. With the win, the Pack moves to .500 on the season.
NC State (3-3) took the important doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Jennifer Jassawalla and Myrna Bawono defeated Charlotte's Jana Cucciniello and Jennifer Hatch at No. 2, 8-2. At No. 3, Loni Worsley and Landis Strader won seven straight games in the match before allowing Courtney Clifford and Lauren Hastings to get on the board. Worsley and Strader won the match, 8-2.
In singles action, NC State won the No. 4, 5 and 6 matches. At No. 4, Bawono defeated Hatch, 6-1, 6-2, while Jassawalla picked up a win at No. 5, leveling Hastings 6-0, 6-1. At No. 6, Junior Landis Strader picked up her first win of the season after being introduced to the line-up Saturday versus Coastal Carolina. Strader lost the first set to Courtney Clifford, but stood strong in the second and third sets to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Wolfpack women's tennis team returns to the courts next Saturday when they welcome the No. 20 South Carolina Gamecocks (4-0) to Raleigh. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
