N.C. State Falls To No. 24 UNC, 80-71

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Coretta Brown and Nikki Teasley scored 23 points each and combined to hit nine 3-pointers as No. 24 North Carolina beat North Carolina State 80-71 Sunday.
North Carolina (19-6, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) won at Reynolds Coliseum for the first time since the 1993-94 season, when the Tar Heels won the national championship. North Carolina improved to 4-0 since Teasley moved to point guard.
N.C. State (11-12, 5-7) shot 50 percent, but had 19 turnovers that led to 23 North Carolina points and allowed 21 second-chance points.
North Carolina had a 41-33 rebounding advantage and had 17 offensive rebounds.
Brown was 4-for-10 from 3-point range and Teasley was 5-for-10. Brown also had seven assists and Teasley five.
Rachel Stockdale had 19 points to lead N.C. State. Amy Simpson added 16 points and Nanna Rivers 11.
North Carolina never trailed and led 37-28 at halftime despite shooting 13-of-36. The Tar Heels shot 41 percent overall.
