
Men's Soccer Falls in ACC Tournament

Raleigh, N.C. -- The NC State men's soccer team fell to No. 10 Maryland 4-0 in the first round of the 2002 ACC Tournament being held this weekend at SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C. The Terps scored two goals in each half, and outshot NC State 20-6 for the game.
Maryland's first goal of the game came less than two minutes into the contest. Domenic Mediate took a pass from Nino Marcantonio and netted his eighth goal of the season at the 1:47 mark. Abe Thompson would add another goal before the half in the 31st minute, and the Terps carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Marcantonio and Jason Garey each added second half goals for Maryland to push the final score to 4-0. Maryland's Noah Palmer recorded the shutout in goal with one save, and NC State's Mitchell Watson finished the game with seven saves.
