Wolfpack Women's Soccer Travels to Campbell

The NC State women's soccer team (8-5-1, 2-2-1) will travel to Buies Creek to face the Campbell Camels (6-7-2, 2-2-2) in a 7 p.m. contest on Wed., Oct. 23. The Pack is looking to regain its winning ways after dropping its previous two matches. NC State has won all eight contests in the series against Campbell.
NC State fell to 2-2-1 in the ACC after losing to the visiting Seminoles of Florida State, 5-1 on Sun. Oct. 19. The Seminoles took advantage of its set pieces, scoring goals off two consecutive corner kicks in the second half to open up the game. Junior Lindsey Underwood scored the lone goal for the Wolfpack in the loss with assists coming from sophomore Annika Schmidt and senior Melissa Pressley. Underwood and Schmidt lead the team in points with 18 each. Underwood paces the team in goals having broken the net seven times so far this season. Schmidt paces the team in assists with eight. NC State has spread its offense around this season, four players have five or more goals already.
Campbell has won four of its last five games, three of those wins have been shutouts. The Camels most recent victories came at the expense of Stetson, 5-0, and Georgia State, 1-0. Freshman Susan Persson leads the team in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25). Junior Sara Davis and freshman Lauren Dittrich have both notched 17 points for the Camels, tallying seven goals and three assists each.
NC State and Campbell are fairly evenly matched in statistics thus far. The Pack has limited its opponents to 20 goals, Campbell's opponents have netted 24. NC State has broken the net 32 times this season, Campbell has done it 33 times. The Pack averages 13.4 shots per game while holding opponents to just 13.7. The Camels average 12.7 shots per contest, limiting its opponents to 17.7. Wednesday's match looks to be a good contest between two up-and-coming teams.
