To n i g h t 's Matchup: NC State is looking to pick up its second ACC win of the week and maintain a spot in the top half of the conference standings. Wake Forest needs a win to pull to .500 overall and move into the middle of the pack of the league standings.
For the second straight game, the Wo l f p a c k 's Carisse Moody will be back in the lineup after missing three weeks of action due to a sprained ankle suffered Jan. 6 versus Georgia Tech. NC State went 1-3 with the All-ACC forward out of the lineup.
Expect a low-scoring defensive battle in tonight's matchup as these two teams rank near the bottom of the ACC in scoring offense and field goal percentage. Both squads have had trouble taking care of the ball as they rank eighth and ninth respectively in conference stats in turnover margin and assist to turnover ratio. The Opponent: Wake Forest has won three of its last five ACC contests, including back-to-back wins over Clem-son and #21 North Carolina. One more conference victory will give the Deacs it highest ACC win total since the 1995- 96 season when Wake posted a 6-10 league record. Tonia Brown leads the Demon Deacons with 13.9 points and 4.5 rebounds. LaChina Robinson is chipping in 8.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per outing.
The Series: NC State leads the overall series with Wake Forest 45-5. The Wolfpack have won the last 11 matchups between the two squads. The Demon Deacons last win over State was Feb. 25, 1996 with a 75-64 victory at Reynolds Coliseum. NC State is 23-1 versus Wake Forest in Raleigh. These squads met earlier this season on Dec. 30 in Wi n s t o n -Salem with the Wolfpack claiming a 61-47 victory. Freshman Liz Bailey led NC State with a career high 20 points, in-cluding six three-pointers. Tonia Brown led the Deacs with 14 points and seven rebounds.
