NC State Volleyball Falls To Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - ACC leading Duke tied a school record for consecutive wins to open a season Friday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, downing NC State, 30-21, 30-21, 30-21 in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action.
The Blue Devils improved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. The Wolfpack fell to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Led by senior Dorrette Burwell, who had 12 kills and just one error, Duke hit .352 as a team while the Wolfpack hit just .116. Sophomore Krista Dill added 11 kills for the Blue Devils, who lead the ACC in hitting percentage.
Senior outside hitter Charece Williams led NC State with eight kills and 14 digs. No Wolfpack player reached double figures in kills for the first time this season. Senior middle blocker Alison Kreager had five kills, six digs and three blocks, while freshman Melanie Rowe had six kills and four digs.
NC State returns to action on Saturday evening at Wake Forest. Match time will be 7 p.m. at Winston-Salem's Reynolds Gym.
