NC State Women Swing Into Action

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The NC State women's tennis team opened fall action this weekend at the St. Mary's Health System Women's Tennis Classic. The three-day event was held at the University of Tennesse, hosted by the Lady Vols. Teams from North Carolina, Furman, Minnesota, Kentucky, Purdue and Georgia Tech also participated in the tournament.
Senior Katrina Gildemeister advanced to round two competition in the Flight Five Bracket, defeating conference foe, Georgia Tech's Kristen Roberson 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The team returns all 10 members of the 2000-01 roster, while adding freshman Taylor Parker of Marietta, Ga. Parker saw action in doubles competition this weekend.
The women will travel to Winston-Salem on Thursday, Oct. 25th for the Rolex Qualifier.
