Once on life-support following a disastrous 1-10 start, the Charlotte Sting have recovered to make the WNBA playoffs. Led by the dynamic backcourt tandem of Andrea Stinson and Dawn Staley, the Sting (15-14) recorded a post-season clinching 65-60 win over Washington on Monday night.
Stinson, a former NC State star, had a big hand in the victory, scoring 12 points to go along with six rebounds and seven assists.
After Washington had pulled to within two points at 61-59 with 45.9 seconds remaining, Stinson calmly stepped to the line and nailed four straight free throws to seal it.
Staley, who was a standout guard at Virginia, added 13 points for Charlotte.
