It was a busy weekend in the WNBA and a big weekend for several former NC State stars.
Andrea Stinson, who established herself as one of the league's best all around guards last season, put together another stellar performance for the Charlotte Sting. Stinson's 21-points and seven rebounds, however, weren't enough to put her team over the top as the Sting fell to Los Angeles, 76-67. Playing against her former Sting teammates for the first time, ex Pack center Rhonda Mapp tallied 11 for the Sparks. Another NC State alum, Summer Erb, added six for Charlotte.
Now the starting center for Cleveland, Chasity Melvin poured in 16 points and added seven boards in a losing cause on Saturday night. Melvin's Rockers dropped a close one to Sacramento, 70-65.
And rookie Tynesha Lewis will no doubt be seeing more playing time in the future after exploding for nine points in just 14 minutes for Houston on Saturday. Lewis' effort helped the Comets down Detroit, 74-73.
