NC State's Levar Fisher hopes to pick up where he left off last season when he was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation in tackles.
Athlon Sports' college football magazine is confident that Fisher's 2000 campaign wasn't a fluke. The publication has selected the senior linebacker as a preseason first team All-American. Fisher and North Carolina's Julius Peppers were the only two ACC players chosen for the first team.
Fisher averaged 15.1 tackles per game (166 total) last season as NC State posted an 8-4 record that included a dramatic victory over Minnesota in the MicronPC.com Bowl. Although the Beaufort native missed spring practice after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery, he is expected to be at full strength when the Wolfpack begins fall camp in early August.
