Wolfpack Women Hold Annual Awards Banquet

Raleigh, NC - The NC State women's basketball team held its annual awards banquet Sunday night at the McKimmon Center on the NC State campus. Over 200 family members and fans attended the event to honor the 2000-01 Wolfpack Women.
Senior co-captain Tynesha Lewis took home most of the hardware, earning awards for Most Valuable Player, Best Offensive Player (tie) and the Off Season Award. In addition to receiving her senior awards, she was honored for recording the only two triple-doubles in school history and earning All-ACC honors for the fourth consecutive season. Lewis left the banquet to fly back to Houston where she is currently in training camp with the WNBA's Houston Comets.
Sophomore center Carisse Moody was recognized for earning All-ACC and ACC All-Tournament accolades as well as Associated Press honorable mention All-American honors. Moody received the Best Offensive Player (tie) Award and the Most Improved Award. She led the team in points, rebounds and field goal percentage.
Adeola Olanrewaju received the Peanut Doak Rookie of the Year Award. Ivy Gardner was named the Best Defensive Player and recipient of the 100% Effort Award. Talisha Scates was given the award for Best Team Supporter for a starter while freshman Nanna Rivers received the honor for a non-starter.
Christen Greene received the Silver Bowl Award as having the highest GPA on the team. The G-WIS Community Service Award was presented to Daphne Hutcherson for making the most visits to local elementary schools. The Iron Wolf Award was presented to Terah James for her work in the training room to rehabilitate her knee following reconstructivesurgery. Amy Simpson and Gardner were co-recipients of the BEM Award.
Every player received a plaque as well as a watch from the NCAA for the team's seventh straight postseason appearance. The banquet concluded with a highlight tape of the 2000-01 season.
