TULSA, Okla. -- The NC State men defeated Oral Roberts in tennis action Sunday
afternoon, 4-0 in Tulsa, OK. The win moves the Wolfpack to 5-14 in 2001 (0-3
ACC).
NC State started the afternoon by claiming the doubles point on the strength of doubles wins by Eric Jackson and Reinaldo Valor at No. 1 doubles (8-5) and Brad Kilgore and Ryan Boward at No. 3 doubles (9-8).
After doubles, the match was ended after the Wolfpack claimed the three necessary singles points for the victory. Valor posted the first point for the Wolfpack with a victory over ORU’s John Hixon 6-4, 6-2. Minutes later, Boward made it 3-0 NC State with a win over Duncan Fourie 6-2, 6-4. John Davis clinched the match later with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Matt Munson at #6 singles.
The Wolfpack's next match is at #3 Duke at 2:30 on Wednesday.
