Gymnastics Finishes Third in Wolfpack Invite

Junior Kelli Brown, who has won two straight EAGL Gymnast of the Week awards, tied her own school record on bars with a 9.975 to take top honors. Brown also finished first on floor with a score of 9.925, and added a fifth place finish on vault (9.825). For her efforts, Brown was second in the all-around (38.925).
NC State turned in its best performance of the day on bars. The Pack finished with a team score of 49.250, a mark that ranks second in school history. Brown tied her own school record in the event, and a duo from the Pack tied for second. Seniors Monica Berry and Kara Charles each posted a 9.9 to finish second. Sophomore Angie Welch set a new personal-best with a 9.825 to finish seventh as well.
Sophomore Adina added a eighth place finish on vault (9.725). On beam, senior Sara Dolan finished in a tie for third with a score of 9.825, while junior Laura Jazab was fifth (9.8). Freshman Alison Bundy turned in a strong performance on floor by finishing fourth, with a career-high 9.85.
NC State honored its five seniors before the meet, as this meet marked the last one of their careers. Those honored were Monica Berry, Kara Charles, Sara Dolan, Erin Freyvogel, and Cortney Petrovits.
NC State will return to action next Saturday night, when the Pack travels to Athens, Ga., to take on the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs in a dual meet.
