Raleigh, N.C. -- The NC State gymnastics team has qualified for the 2001 NCAA Regionals. The Wolfpack will head to Gainsville, Fla., to take part in the NCAA Southeast Region Championships to be hosted by the University of Florida. The meet will be held Saturday, April 7, at 7:00 p.m.
The three seeded teams NC State will face will be No. 2 Georgia, No. 12 Florida, and No. 14 Iowa. The two other teams competing will be Maryland and George Washington.
The Pack has faced off against each of these participants this season. NC State is 2-5 against its regional foes, and is coming off of a sixth place finish at this past weekend's EAGL Championships.
The nation's top 18 teams based on regional qualifying scores were seeded into six regions (three per region). The remaining three regional slots were filled from within the region. The winner and runner-up at each of the six region sites will make up the 12-team field at the NCAA Championships, set for April 19-21 in Athens, Ga.
