Gymnastics Places Sixth at EAGL Championships

The Wolfpack started the meet off on beam, an event that the Pack currently ranks 11th in the country. NC State1s three seniors continued to lead this year1s squad, as NC State posted a team score of 48.900 on beam. Monica Berry notched the Pack1s top score with a 9.85, and tied for third place. Classmates Kara Charles and Sara Dolan each tied for sixth place with a 9.825. Junior Laura Jazab also performed well, scoring a 9.775 for 13th place. The Pack did not count a fall during its first rotation, and was second to WVU by only 0.050 of a point.
NC State then moved over to floor, but the Pack had to count two falls and posted its lowest team score on floor of the season, a 47.575. Junior Kelli Brown turned in NC State1s top performance with a 9.85 and finished in sixth place. Charles and sophomore Cara Dougherty both recorded a 9.75 and tied for 17th place. After all the teams went through two rotations, the Pack slipped to fifth place with a team score of 96.475.
Up next was vault, and NC State1s struggles continued as the Pack only notched a team score of 47.850. The Pack1s top score came from Brown, who posted a 9.725 and tied for 10th place. Charles was close behind Brown with a 14th place finish (9.7).
NC State finished the meet strong by performing well on the bars. The Pack notched its best team score of the day with a 48.950. Brown once again led NC State with her score of 9.85 and placed sixth. On the day, Brown posted the Pack1s top scores in three of the four events. Four Pack gymnasts scored a 9.775 on bars, Jazab, Dougherty, Southard, and Charles, and tied for 16th place.
In the all-around, Brown and Charles tied for ninth place, each scoring a 39.050.
