RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State gymnastics team will be attempting to make history this weekend. The Pack will try to become only the second school in EAGL history to win three straight conference titles when the EAGL Championships take place this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at North Carolina's Dean Dome.
West Virginia won the first three EAGL Championships (1996-98), while the Wolfpack has brought home the title the past two seasons.
NC State has had great success the past two EAGL meets. The Pack recorded a score of 196.050 in 1999 at Maryland and a 196.000 last season at Pittsburgh. Those two scores are the highest in the NC State record books for an away meet.
Even without winning the conference title the first three years, the Pack has not finished below third in an EAGL meet. In the inaugural meet, the Pack finished third, then followed that up with a second place finish and a third place finish the next two years.
