Gamecocks Squeeze By Wolfpack Netters

The loss drops the Wolfpack to 2-8 on the season, while the Gamecocks move to 4-2 in 2001.
Top seed Eric Jackson defeated Seth Rose 6-2, 7-5, while Reinaldo Valor (6-4, 6-3) and Ryan Boward (6-2, 6-1) also posted singles victories for the Wolfpack. Boward and Matt Lucas picked up a doubles victory at the third seed, defeating Rodrigo Pacheco and Carl Wermee 8-2.
The Wolfpack and Gamecocks were tied 3-all when South Carolina’s David Nelson and NC State’s Michael Carducci were tied at three in the final set. Nelson gradually pulled away, however, handing Carducci a tough defeat 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
NC State will play Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. at the Wolfpack Tennis Center on Saturday.
