Women's Tennis Defeats Furman

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State women's tennis team was able to pick up the 4-3 win over the Furman Paladins today in action at the NC State Tennis Complex to move to 3-3 on the season.
Strong doubles play at No. 1 and No. 3 gave the Pack the doubles point which ended up giving them the victory. At No. 1 doubles, NC State's Loni Worsley and Jackie Leskovar defeated Megan Dunigan and Meredith Moore of Furman, 8-6. After dropping the No. 2 doubles match, the Pack's Kristen Nicholls and Myrna Bawono rolled by the Paladins Shellie Cochran and Krista Thomson, 8-1 to earn the Wolfpack the doubles point.
The Pack once again saw strong play in the bottom half of the singles lineup. After dropping the first three singles matches Nicholls got the Pack rolling with a 6-3, 7-6(8-6), win over Furman's Emelie Isaksson at the No. 4 position. At No. 5, Worsley won, 6-2, 6-1, over Natalie The of Furman and at No. 6 Bawono won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, over the Paladins Krista Thomson.
The women's tennis squad will return to action tomorrow when they play host to the Clemson Tigers at the NC State Tennis Complex. Matches are set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
