Raleigh, NC - NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow has announced that two players have left the team effective this week. Junior Ivy Gardner and senior Daphne Hutcherson have decided to leave the team to concentrate on academics and pursue other interests.
Gardner, a 5-9 guard and team co-captain, had only played in five of the eight games this season due to a knee injury. She had earned four starts and was averaging 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Hutcherson, a 5-8 guard, played in six games as a reserve point guard and posted averages of 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds. She will graduate in May with an electrical engineering degree.
