ATLANTA, Ga. - Playing in her final Atlantic Coast Conference home match, Maja Pachale recorded 18 kills and became the all-time career kill leader in Georgia Tech history as the Yellow Jackets defeated NC State in three games, 30-16, 30-18 and 30-17.
With the win, Tech improved to 16-6, 10-4 ACC while the Wolfpack fell to 6-18 and 1-13.
Pachale surpassed the record of 1,749 kills held by former outside hitter Cris Omiecinski who played at Tech from 1992-1995. In addition to Pachale, seniors Kyleen Bell and Dori Pap played in their final home conference match and made the most of their time. Pap tallied a career-high 12 kills and hit a team-high .556 while Bell notched five kills, five digs, and one block solo.
While Tech's offense was virtually unstoppable, recording 55 kills and hitting a season high .406, NC State struggled throughout. The Wolfpack notched only 28 kills and hit just .090. The Pack was led by Melanie Rowe, who recorded eight kills, followed by Allison Kreager who had five. Defensively, Caroline Frede notched a team-high eight digs.
