COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Willette Dority had a match-high 14 kills and recorded a red-hot .579 hitting percentage Tuesday night as Maryland swept NC State in three games in college volleyball at Ritchie Coliseum. The victory by the Terrapins avenged an earlier defeat to the Wolfpack on September 22 at Reynolds Coliseum.
Dority had seven kills in the first game as the Terps defeated the Wolfpack by scores of 30-18, 30-18 and 30-24 and recorded their second win in a row. Maryland improved to 9-8 with the victory, 5-4 in the ACC. NC State fell to 5-12 and 1-8.
Senior outside hitter Alison Kreager led the Pack with nine kills, eight digs, two blocks and a .261 hitting percentage. Senior Charece Williams and junior Rebecca Anderson, both outside hitters, had six kills apiece for the Pack, which hit .087 as a team. Kreager, Williams and Anderson had 64 of NC State's 115 total attempts.
Dority, who entered the match leading the ACC in hitting percentage, had 19 attempts and just three errors to lead the Terps, who hit .370 as a team. Maria DiLivio had nine kills and five digs, and hit .261, while Jennifer DeWalt had seven kills and hit .583 in 12 attempts.
NC State returns to action on Sunday, October 21 at Virginia.
