Men's Golf Places in a Tie for Sixth at Gary Koch Intercollegiate

Tampa, Fla. -- NC State's men's golf team posted a team total of 289 to finish in a tie for sixth place with an 877 at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate. The event, hosted by the University of Florida at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, featured three of the top 10 teams in the country. The defending national champion Gators cruised to a 26-shot victory to claim the team title.
The Wolfpack placed two individuals in the top 10 as Jason Moon carded a 54-hole score of 214 to place in a tie for seventh and senior Garth Mulroy posted a 216 to place 10th in the event. Rodney Thomas posted his first career top 20 finish by shooting a 220 to place in a tie for 18th.
Florida's Camilo Villegas sank a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole to claim individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 207. He edged teammate Bubba Dickerson by one shot.
NC State's final tournament of the fall season will be next weekend, Oct. 25-27, as the Pack travel to Stanford to compete in The Nelson.
