RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow needs only two victories to become the fifth women's basketball coach to reach the 600 career win milestone. Yow is currently in her 26th season at NC State and owns a 598-245 career record that includes four years as the head coach at Elon College.
The Wolfpack Women face a three-game homestand which gives Yow the opportunity to reach this milestone in front of the adoring Wolfpack fans. NC State will face Clemson on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. and then play Wake Forest in another ACC matchup on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The third game of the homestretch will feature a non-conference matchup with Temple on Thurs., Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
A 2000 inductee into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Yow has led the Wolfpack to postseason play in 21 of her 25 seasons. She will join Jody Conradt (Texas), Pat Summitt (Tennessee), Vivian Stringer (Rutgers) and Sue Gunter (LSU) in the 600-win club.
