NC State will go into the 2001 season as the two-time defending EAGL conference champions. Last season, the Pack set a new school record with a team score of 197.725 in the Wolfpack Invitational. NC State also set new team highs on bars (49.350), beam (49.525), and floor (49.775). The Pack landed six different gymnasts on the All-EAGL first and second teams as well.
Defending national champion UCLA was the top pick in the poll receiving 22 of the possible 29 first place votes. The Wolfpack will face a total of 10 teams that cracked the Top-25, including conference foes No. 14 West Virginia and No. 23 Maryland in the EAGL Championships.
NC State will open up its 2001 season next Sunday, January 14, when the Pack hosts Arizona, James Madison, and New Hampshire in Reynolds Coliseum. The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
