#22 Wolfpack Women Host Maryland

NC State's women's basketball team will be looking for its 12th win of the season tonight in an ACC clash with Maryland. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack: NC State is coming off three consecutive losses, all by seven points or less, and two against top 10 opponents. The Wolfpack would like nothing better than to get back on the right track with win tonight over the Terps. The Wolfpack Women defense is ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense (56.4), but it has given up an average of 66.6 points in the last eight games, six of which are losses. NC State is led by the inside-outside combination of Carisse Moody (13.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and Tynesha Lewis (13.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg).
The Opponent: After losing three consecutive conference games, Maryland has won its last two league matchups. The Terps are led by senior Marche Strickland who is averaging 13.2 points per outing. Deedee Warley and Renneika Razor contribute 11.8 and 11.1 points per game. Freshman Kiki Wimbush has played a key role for Maryland this season, not only chipping in 6.7 points and 2.7 boards per game, but also dishing out five assists per game which ranks second in the ACC.
Tonight's Matchup: NC State will be going for its fifth straight win over the Terps in Coach Kay Yow's 850th career contest. For the first time in five games, the Wolfpack face a squad that also averages less than 70 points a game. A win today will move NC State into a tie with Maryland for fifth place in the ACC standings.

The Wolfpack have won four straight and seven of its last eight matchups against the Terps. Maryland hasn't won in Reynolds Coliseum since Feb. 9, 1991 when it escaped with a 86-85 win. A year ago, the Wolfpack claimed a 71-52 victory over Maryland in Raleigh and picked up a 74-66 road win at College Park. Summer Erb led the Pack to the home win with 19 points and nine rebounds. The Pack placed four players in double figures in that contest. The Coaches: Head Coach Kay Yow, in her 26th season on the Wolfpack bench, recently reached the 600th career win milestone. She has a 543-230 record at NC State and a 600-249 overall collegiate coaching mark. One of the most successful coaches in the country, she currently ranks fifth in career wins. Chris Weller is also enjoying her 26th year in the ACC and owns a 481-263 record at Maryland, where she has spent her entire collegiate coaching career.
Last Time Out: NC State dropped it third straight game on Sunday with a 71-64 loss to #7 Iowa State. Carisse Moody and Tynesha Lewis were the Wolfpack's leading scorers with 13 and 10 points respectively. Maryland pulled out a 66-62 come-from-behind win at Georgia Tech on Sunday for its third ACC win of the season. Deedee Warley led the Terps with 20 points and seven rebounds.
