NC State Womens Soccer Pounds UNC Asheville, 3-1

Raleigh, NC (Sept. 23) - Freshman forward Katherine Warman tallied a goal and an assist as the NC State womens soccer squad defeated UNC Asheville 3-1 in the Clemson University Invitational on Sept. 23. The Wolfpack moves to 5-4-1(0-1 ACC) with the victory. After the game, Warman and sophomore defender Erin Bushey were named the all-tournament team.
NC State got on the scoreboard early on a goal by sophomore midfielder Lindey Rosen at the 6:29 mark of the first half. Rosen netted the shot off an assist by sophomore midfielder Colette Seville. Warman scored again for the Wolfpack at the 24:11 mark, with an assist from Bushey. Freshman forward Lindsey Underwood blasted NC States final goal past UNC Asheville goalkeeper Carolina Jacobsen at the 79:32 mark on an assist by Warman. Sami Fercha scored the Bulldogs lone goal at the 12:08 mark of the first half off a feed from Amanda Wilkinson.
The Wolfpack dominated most of the game, outshooting UNC Asheville 36-5. NC State also held a 12-1 edge in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Kristen Skinner, who entered the week leading the ACC in saves per game, was only forced to make one save as the Wolfpack defense stymied the Bulldogs attack most of the night.
NC States next game will be home against Charlotte on Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the WRAL CASL Soccer Stadium Complex.
