Furmans Sarah Tollick opened the scoring in the first half with a blast past NC State goalkeeper Kristen Skinner off a corner kick at the 20:54 mark of the first half. Petro assisted on the goal. The Wolfpack held the Paladins to that lone goal for over 50 minutes when Turner scored on a breakaway at the 74:53 mark of the second half. The Wolfpack cut the deficit in half barely two minutes later on a goal by sophomore forward Laura Scott on a rebound. Senior Shannon Tully assisted on Scotts team leading fourth goal of the season. Turner struck again 49 sconds later with the final goal of the game on an assist by Emily Turgeon.
Skinner, the ACC leader in saves per game, posted eight saves for NC State. The Wolfpack spread their 13 shots evenly among 10 players, with Scott, Tully and freshman forward Katherine Warman all firing two apiece.
"This was a very disappointing loss for us," said head coach Laura Kerrigan. "We really had better ball possession tonight, but they simply had better shots."
The next Wolfpack game will be Saturday at 4:30 in Clemson against UNC Asheville.
