NC States Lucas Advances To Qualifying Round Of T. Rowe

Baltimore, MD (Sept. 17) - Matt Lucas, a freshman at NC State, advanced to the qualifying round of the T. Rowe Price Clay Court Champonships on Sept. 16 by defeating Michael Yanni of Duke (6-2, 6-3) and Zach Held of Indiana (6-1, 3-6, 6-4). Last season Yannis Duke squad finished the season ranked 5th in the nation, while Helds Hoosiers were 27th overall.

The qualifying rounds will begin on Sept. 19, where Lucas will be in action along with Wolfpack players Renaldo Valor and Eric Jackson, who will be competing in the qualifying round of the doubles comptetion. Jackson, a 1999 All-ACC honoree who is currently ranked 73rd in the nation, will then compete on Sept. 21 in the main draw of the T. Rowe Price Championships.
