Play Continues at Wyndham Garden Wolfpack Invitiational

The Pack struggled in their singles match-ups as junior Kristen Nicholls was the only NC State competitior to pick up a winas she defeated Allison Lane of Appalachian State in Flight B, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, in a consolation match. She will play Sunday against Davidson's Lindsay Offutt in the consolation final for fifth place.
Virginia netters were a nightmare for NC State in singles action. In flight A singles, NC State freshman Jennifer Jassawalla was defeated by Christie Schweer of Virginia, 6-1, 6-2. Jassawalla will be matched against Forbes Thompson of Virginia in the consolation final for third place. In Flight B Virginia's Leslie Cook defeated the Pack's freshman Jackie Leskovar, 6-4, 6-3. Also in Flight B, Jen Tuchband of Virginia knocked off sophomore Loni Worsley in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Worsley will be paired against teammate Leskovar for third place in Sunday's consolation final.
In Flight C Laura James also of Virginia cruised by NC State sophomore Myrna Bawano, 6-2, 6-0. Bawano will be matched against Paulina Sierpinsky of East Carolina in the consolation final for third place.
Wolfpack freshman Morgan Whitlock will face teammate sophomore Landis Strader, both No. 2 seeds from the Flight D round robin draw, on Sunday in a playoff. Whitlock lost her match today agianst Christie Kim of Virginia 6-1, 6-0, while Strader was also defeated by High Point's Megan Hoffman, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
In Flight doubles action the Pack's duo of Bawano and freshman Kristen Lam were defeated by Mitna and Ceretta of Marshall, 8-6 in Flight A. They will face Sukner and Cabiling in the consolation final on Sunday for third place. Nicholls and Worsley will play on Sunday in the consolation final facing Weaver and James of Virginia for fifth place in Flight A doubles.
In Flight B round robin play doubles, Whilock and Strader will face teammate DeVore and her partner Kathryn Brown of AppalachianState in a No. 2 seed playoff.
Play will finish up on Sunday with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Wolfpack Women's tennis team will travel to the University of Maryland next weekend for another Fall Invitational, with play slated for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
