Wolfpack Fifth at First Round at NCAA Golf Regional

MOOSIC, PA (May 19, 2000) -- After sitting through rain delays on Thursday, NC State's men's golf team completed the first round of competition at the NCAA East Regional on Friday morning and currently sit in a tie for fifth place. The Wolfpack shot a 10-over-par 294, three shots back from first round leader East Tennessee State.
Carl Pettersson is currently in a four-way tie for the lead in the individual standings. The senior co-captain fired a two-under-par 69 despite the poor playing conditions. Chris Mundorf shot a 73 to stand in a tie for 20th at the par 71 Glen Maura National Golf Club.
NC State, ranked 14th in the nation, is vying for one of the top 11 spots at the East Regional that will earn them a bid to the NCAA Championships on May 31-June 3.
